In a catch-up game, Awakeri Mysterios played Edgecumbe in the 15th grade. Despite the break for the school holidays, Awakeri put their passes together well, and Matthew Ward's determination soon got him the opening goal. Ward got on the end of a Nicholas Law pass and forced it past the keeper. Edgecumbe evened the score up with a well struck free kick from a distance. A through ball got Reender Buikema behind the Edgecumbe defence. He ran hard and scored well. In the second half, Awakeri were awarded a free kick 23 metres out, and Jeremy Hawkes copied the Edgecumbe goal, putting the ball in the top corner. Ward completed the scoring, with another determined run, beating two men in the box before slotting home from close range. The final score Edgecumbe 1, Awakeri Mysterios 4.
Edgecumbe battled well, despite only having ten men. The Mysterios passed the ball around well, and Hawkes was named player of the match. He was part of a very sound defence that kept the home team's attacks at bay.
