The Awakeri Hobbits had an early 15th grade game against league leaders Allandale. The Hobbits put on
some pressure at the start and created a couple of good chances, then a fortunate long shot from their
visitors opened the scoring. However the strong Allandale team soon got into gear and despite two excellent
saves from hobbits’ player of the match Cody Hancox, they went to a four gaol lead at half time. The
Awakeri side competed with more success after the break, scoring twice to eventually go down 8 - 2. A
Matthew Ward cross lead to a goal from Ian Sisam, while Jeremy Hawkes scored after combining well with
Steven Smit.
A close game was the order of the day when Adamson’s Amcal Pharmacy Awakeri 13th grade played away to Otakiri with both teams playing a skilful and exciting game. Numerous attacks on goal by Otakiri were finally rewarded with two top goals and could have been more if not for the efforts of the Awakeri backs, midfield and superb keeping by Simon Barr. Awakeri came back in the second half, with Kelly Stanton latching onto a great cross from Neil Sax to score Another from Stanton, after a lovely ball from Simon Barr, just slipped past the goalpost a few minutes from full time. The final score was
2 - 1 to Otakiri. Player of the day went to Kelly Stanton for her total commitment for the full sixty minutes.

Player of the day was Thomas Turner who showed good ball control and defended well against bigger
players than himself.
Picking a player of the day for the 10th Grade Private Asset Management Aces was a difficult task. In their
game against Otakiri, four different players had their best games of the season. Miles McConway, Chris
Johnston, Joseph Newdick and Nicholas Schuler chased hard all day and gave 100% commitment. Aces
came away with a 3-1 score, thanks to a well struck Waylen Skipps goal and Vincent Sheather, who netted
twice. This was a very enjoyable game, with the ball flowing from end to end. Vincent Sheather was named
player of the day for his consistency and skill level over the last few weeks.
Also in the 10th grade, Total Power Services Awakeri Rangers played well in losing 3 - 0 to Whakatane.

full of running in the midfield. Chris Stanton did very well in his turn in goal and also put some good passes
through to his forwards. Emma Barr and Conrad Gurran were others to play to their best. The game was
well refereed by Scott Lowndes.

the day with his good setups to the forwards and strong running. The final score was 3 - 0 to Ohope.
Three quick goals in a row soon after the kick-off, put the 8th grade Awakeri Devils on the back foot
against a polished James Street school team. The Devils did well to stop more goals being scored against
them, with Stephen Glassbrook and Jayden Haddock working overtime in their turns as keepers. Play settled
down for the balance of the game but no more goals were scored. Fenton Murray was player of the day for
some good defence work . The result Awakeri Devils 0 James Street 3.

Sheather
was named player of the day, for his efforts in goal in the first half, and his determination in the
field when he played out of goal. Clive McIndoe and Vinnie Luca continue to improve, and both are
beginning to make some good runs. A feature of this game was the wonderful sideline support for both
teams. The spectators were well rewarded with the quality of the game.
