Awakeri Get Fresh Sharks continued their good season in the 11th grade premier
division, with a 2 - nil win over The Ohope Crew. Both teams played some excellent
soccer, however the Sharks strong defence defused any of Ohope's attacks at
goal. Quest Tipping scored the Sharks two goals. One of them, from a long way
out, was a strike that any senior player would be proud of! Sharks player of
the day went to Dillon Murray, who led a fine defensive display. Nicole Theobald
and Daniel Gow also had strong games.
O'Hagan's Awakeri Magic had their best game of the season so far in the 11th
grade 1st division. Magic played Allandale United, and played very well as a
team, getting quite a few attacks going. The game was locked at 1 - 1 at half
time, although Allandale ended up winning 5 - 2. Toni Campbell had her best
game so fare and was named player of the day. Jaspreet Dharmet and Liam Wilkinson
were Magic's goal scorers.
Da Silva Auto Awakeri Dragons had a heavy loss in their 9th grade premier game
against Saints. Lachlan Butler played well as keeper for Dragons, whose player
of the day was the hard tackling Isaiah Davidson. Cody Dakin held his position
well too.
In the 8th grade premier division, Bay Milking Equipment Awakeri Incredibles
had a closely fought game against Matata. Matata scored with the last kick of
the game to seal a 2 - 0 win. Tylar Hall worked hard for Incredibles and made
some great runs. He was their player of the day.
Performance Zone Awakeri Wild Cats had another close game in the 8th grade 1st
division, losing 2 - 1 to Ohope United. Tara van Beekhuizen scored a beautiful
goal, after being put in the clear with a great pass from Sarah Sheaff. The
player of the day was Jenae Brownless, who had a great game in goal, stopping
many hard shots put her way. Both teams had their work cut out playing on a
large pitch with the regular field still covered in mud.
Awakeri Warriors had their first win of the season in the 7th grade, beating
Saints Dolphins 3 - 1. The Warriors all passed well and ran well with the ball.
Zalea Tipping, Thomas Lawn and Logan Calder were the goal scorers. Noah Robinson
got stuck in and was named player of the day.
Also in the 7th grade, Private Asset Management Awakeri Aces all played well
in their game against Allandale. The Allandale goalie made several great saves
to earn a 2 - 1 win. Caden Laurent was the goal scorer and player of the day
for Aces.
A great team effort saw Awakeri Jets win 4 - 3 against Taneatua Tuatara in the
6th grade. Kieron Butler, Cambell Julian, Kaleb Muggeridge and Isaac Clement
were the goal scorers. Isaac Clement was awarded player of the day for his efforts
and scoring his first goal of the season. Oliver Forsyth also had another great
game in goal.
The Awakeri Dolphins lost 4 - 0 to the Whakatane Strikers in the 6th grade.
Their player of the day was Blake Hermansen, who impressed with his ball skills
and attacking play.
Also in the 6th grade, Awakeri Angels lost to Paroa Rockets. Ayla Rowe made
some brave saves in the Angels' goal. The player of the day was Savanah Stewart,
who got fully involved in the play.
