The highlight for Awakeri's football

the 8th grade.
In the 7th grade Awakeri Aces played well against Ohope Jets, ending with an
exciting narrow loss: Ohope Jets 5 Awakeri Aces 4. Courage earned Thomas Wessels
player of the day. He was the Aces' goal keeper and saved a goal but ended up
with a blood nose in the process!
Awakeri All Stars won their 7th grade match with Ohope Diamonds 2 - 0. Player

at scoring.
The two goals were scored by Kaleb Muggeridge and Jack Elliot.
Awakeri Store Comets had a trip to Kawerau this week to face the Knights in
the 8th grade premier division. In the first half Kawerau scored a goal that
gave goalie Ethan Paterson no chance. Despite some good runs and attempts on
goal, the Comets were unable to equalize and were constantly frustrated. Kevin
Paulsen and player of the day Ben Olifiers came the closest to scoring. It was
a very even game but Kawerau grabbed a second goal with the last kick of the
game to finish 2-0 winners. There was a huge improvement in the team work, passing
and the effort put in by the Comets, which was great to see.
Also in the 8th grade premier division, Da Silva Autos Awakeri Aces went down
0 -6 to James St Gunners on Saturday. Despite the result, Aces' game was hugely
improved on their last one and the score was not a reflection of the match.

unlucky not to score. Campbell Forsyth also had another strong game.
