The first goal of the season turned into five for Renshaw Jewellers Awakeri Sharks in the 13th grade on Saturday. Awakeri Sharks broke their goal drought, scoring five goals in a come from behind 5 - 5 draw against Kawerau Fury. The goals were scored by Fletcher Forsyth (2), Lucas Schlepers, Jordan Andrew and Daniel Perkinson. The player of the day was awarded to Dylan Hoefsloot for putting pressure on the opposition all day.

Murphy Brothers Awakeri Mud Dawgs played two exciting catch up games in the 11th grade 1st division on Saturday. The first was against the Saints Comets. The Mud Dawgs lost 4 - 3 in a very close game that they were unlucky to lose. The goal scorers were Jack du Toit with two and Taylor Harte with one. Chrystal Marriner also played well. In the second game they played the Whakatane Yellowfins, who came out very strongly, taking a 3 - 0 lead into half time. However, the Dawgs came out biting in the second half, with Taylor Harte finishing two well worked attacks to take the game to 3 - 2 with about ten minutes to go. The Yellowfins goalie saved several good strikes at goal to secure the win. The player of the day was Hayley Calder.

Get Fresh Awakeri Dragons put in one of their best efforts of the season in going down 2 - 0 to Whakatane Magpies in the 11th grade premier division.

HTL Spreading Awakeri Phoenix had a hard fought 3 - 1 win against Eastpac Opotiki in their 9th grade game. All their goals were scored in the second half, with all players playing well. Liam McCormack added to his season's goal count with another two and with his outstanding effort gained player of the day.

Also in the 9th grade, Awakeri Wildcats went down 2 - 1 to Ohope. The player of the day and goal scorer was Monique Ruiter. The Wild Cats played with a lot of spirit and the spectators found it a very entertaining game to watch.

Awakeri Store Comets knew that they were going to have a tough game away to top team Kawerau Crusaders in the 8th grade premier division, and this proved to be the case with no goals from either team at half time. In the second half, after some good play out of defence, Kevin Paulsen broke through and lobbed the ball over the goalkeeper's head to give the Comets the lead. Kawerau had a couple of good chances saved by player of the day Noah Robinson and hit the post in the dying moments of the game, but Awakeri held on for a great team victory over the previously unbeaten Crusaders.
Da Silva Autos Awakeri Aces had a fantastic start against Ohope early in their 8th grade premier game, with a goal to Lilly Du Toit and managed to hold the lead until half time. Ohope came back with a good goal after half time and continued to attack the Aces' goal. Aces defence was strong and, for her defending and 'never give up' attitude, Tayla Jones was given player of the day. Ohope won 2 - 1.
In the 8th grade 1st division, Awakeri Cheetah Girlz played a solid game against Whakatane Warriors. The Girlz defended well and made some good darting runs up field. Olivia Sheaff and Ella Jones were the scorers in a 2 - 2 draw. Juliet Findlay's good defence and good sportsmanship by helping out the opposition saw her named player of the day.
Awakeri All Stars lost one nil against Ohope Jets in the 7th grade. The player of day went to Liam White for his outstanding field coverage and support.

Also in the 7th grade, Awakeri Aces played the Whakatane Flames all girls team. They played well but the Flames deserved their 4 - 1 win. Cate Robertson was Aces' player of the day.

In an exciting closely fought all-Awakeri 6th grade game, Awakeri Hotcars played Awakeri Rascals, winning 2 - 1. The goals were scored by the Wetting twins, Bonnie-Marie and Elijah. Hotcars player of the day was awarded to Oliver Forsyth for some great shots at goal. Jamie Julian and Charlotte Paulsen also shone. For the Rascals, Ayla Rowe had a great game and ended up covered in mud from head to toe. Player of the day Katie Mahy had an outstanding game in the goal in the first half and scored the goal in the second half.

Also in the 6th grade, Awakeri Hotshots played Kawerau Kougaz and won 5 - 0. Both teams played well and Kaitlyn Parker was Hotshots player of the day.
