Only a few grades were playing on Saturday.
Awakeri Hotcars had an energetic game against Ohope All Stars in the 6th grade. Hotcars won the game 5 - 2, with Jamie Julian scoring a hat trick. Player of the day was awarded to Elijah Wetting-Davidson for his brilliant dribbling skills. Elijah also scored 2 goals. Ella Forbes and Bonnie-Marie Wetting-Davidson also had solid games.
Awakeri's two 7th grade teams enjoyed the special tournament day at Whakatane.
In the 11th grade 1st division, Murphy Brothers Awakeri Mud Dawgs created lots of chances against Paroa. The Paroa keeper was in excellent form, but a goal from Taylor Harte gave the Mud Dawgs a 1 - 0 win. Jack du Toit's good play in the midfield earned him player of the day.
Renshaw Jewellers Awakeri Sharks played a hard fought 13th grade game against Hickeys Sports Opotiki, unlucky to go down 4 - 0. Daniel Perkinson was awarded Player of the day for his continuous determination and never give up attitude. Katy White also had an outstanding game, along with excellent goal keeping by Lucas Schlepers.
