President’s report 2004

In the 2004 season, Awakeri fielded 11 teams in the EBOP leagues, in the following grades: 6th (2), 7th, 8th,
9th, 10th, 11th, 13th (2) and 15th.
The club is grateful to its sponsors: David da Silva Autos, Total Power Services, Draintech Diggers, Private
Asset Management, the Edge Swim School and Newcom Solutions.

In the 2004 season there were many highlights for the Awakeri Soccer Club. These include:
The 10th grade Awakeri Autos team winning their league
Nikoli Christensen’s goal scoring feats in the 6th grade.
An Awakeri rep team competing in the Jubilee Cup in Whakatane (11th gr)
9th gr Awa Dragons winning against Saints 7 - 5
The floods, how quickly our fields disappeared under water, the effect on families and players.
A Whakatane 13th gr player falling off our new fence twice into the remains of the flood waters!

Chris Whitaker organising a town v country game for 15th grade
Stephen Glassbrook (27) and Keanu Carter (23) scoring 50 goals between them for Autos.
A lot of our last year’s 15th grade team playing 17th grade for Whakatane
