In the 2011 season, Awakeri fielded 13 teams in the EBOP leagues, in the following grades: 6th (3), 7th (2), 8th (3), 9th (2), 11th (2) and 13th (1). Again, we had two girls only teams playing.

The club is grateful to its sponsors: HTL Spreading, Da Silva Autos, Murphy Brothers, Renshaw Jewellers, Get Fresh and the Awakeri Store.

In the 2011 season there were many highlights for the Awakeri Soccer Club. These include:
Taylor Harte scoring 21 goals in the season, Kevin Paulsen 20.
The battles between the two 8th grade premier teams.
7th gr Aces beating unbeaten Kawerau late in the season.
The battles between the Wild Cats and the Phoenix in the 9the grade.
The 13th grade Sharks finally getting a win, in late August.
Kevin Paulsen scoring eight, Ethan Forbes scoring five in a game, several players scoring fours.
Family soccer restarting over the summer.

The tremendous successes of the All Whites at the World Cup and Wellington Phoenix giving our footballers something to aspire to.

Awakeri had 12 BBOP rep players in 2011: 10th gr girls Emily Julian, Sarah Sheaff, Taryn Forbes, Jenae Brownless; 10th gr Isaiah Davidson, 11th gr Jamie Findlay, Oliver Thompson, Taylor Harte, 12th gr Daniel Perkinson, Fletcher Forsyth, 13th gr Daniel Gow, Lucas Schlepers.

I would like to thanks our coaches: LJ Du Toit, Christian Wetting, Kerry Looney, Dena Martin, Paul Julian, Geoff van Beekhuizen, Shane and Renske Forsyth, Brigette Davidson, Heidi Parker, Melissa White, Naomi Courtney-Tennant, Kirsteen Nurkka, Bevan Jones and John White.

The sportsmanship trophies for the season went to:

The new season being run by the Waikato-BOP Federation is a new beginning. Hopefully football will be better off for the change!

Many thanks to Jane Harte for continuing to do an excellent job as secretary/treasurer.
